With Microsoft spending over $100 million on the Windows Phone 7 ad campaign and sparing nothing for the launch of the new smartphone OS, why than is the market research showing only 40,000 phones sold the first day? This compared to to Google’s Android release date sales of over 200,000 devices and let us not forget Applies 600,000 plus in just pre-orders alone for the hugely successful iPhone 4. At this pace, can Microsoft ever catch-up, or even compete?
