Microsoft Goes with Direct3D as their Game Console Interface for the Xbox

Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One will rely on DirectX 11-class API. We also know that Sony’s PS4 will feature its own interface. Microsoft stated today that the Xbox One graphics API is “Direct3D 11.x” and the Xbox One hardware will provide a new superset of Direct3D 11.2 functionality. However currently, the graphics APIs such as OpenGL and AMD’s Mantle will not be available on Xbox One. Read the full story here.
