Infographics are everywhere. Below is a link to a full version of an infographic from CloudPassage on Cloud and security. It is interesting that security concerns used to be one of the primary things keeping people off the Cloud. Today those concerns seem to be dropping. In the infographic, you can see that people are becoming more confident with aspects of Cloud security.

One of the more interesting statistic is that 4 out of 5 respondents state that their companies are using Cloud architecture. This could be an indicator that the Cloud is now being taken seriously and is working its way into real applications.

Pulling another statistic off the infographic, you can see that the biggest use of public Cloud hosting is public-facing applications. To some extent this makes sense. If you were building internal applications, you might be more inclined to use a private cloud or a hybrid set-up. You can see that 22% of the Cloud server breakdown was for public Cloud versus hybrid (20%) or private (36%).

I did ask what the survey size was for this infographic and who was surveyed as that would skew the data. The survey was targeted to CloudPassage’s marketing and customer database. The respondents were from a variety of roles across a variety of organizations. The sizes of the organizations also varied with some having 44% of them having 501 or more servers. The survey was conducted in September 2012 among a pool of 201 respondents. Ninety-five percent of those surveyed reside in the United States.

Many of the cloud vendors provide free trials. If you use our web sites, then you have likely seen a few offers that our sale team has posted in the ads and elsewhere. For example, you can get a 90-Day free trial of Azure right now. You can click on the following text link to access this trial. You do have to fill out a form and give a credit card, but nothing is billed for this trial and I believe that nothing is automatically billed at the end of the 90 days unless you change a setting.

*** Access 90 Day Free Trial of Azure ***

For full disclosure — we do business with Microsoft, who’s Azure trial I just mentioned
