Microsoft announced today in their blog that they have drastically simplified the process for developers to provide age ratings for their apps in the Windows Store. In addition, the new process brings balance between “helping ensure safe experiences for kids and its “legal obligations to the many and complex government regulations. Now, developers simply need to upload their GDF XML files on the Age rating and rating certificates page in the developer dashboard, verses developers being requiring to include ratings data in their app’s package. Microsoft also continued the process of ratings for developers who have provided age ratings in their app packages. This feature however will be only a one shot deal moving forward. The Windows Store won’t read any new GDF data out of packages and future rating changes must be handled directly in the dashboard. Check out the full details here.
