Visual Basic Still Useful for Windows 8 Development

The recent Microsoft BUILD conference offered many presentations about the upcoming Windows 8 operating system, but VB developers will be interested to know that Microsoft hasn’t completely forgotten about Visual Basic. They are currently working on an API for their C# and VB compilers that enables developers to use them in their runtime code.


The compiler as a server project that Microsoft is working on, which is codenamed Roslyn, will provide developers with the ability to convert code from C# to VB, or VB to C#, a function that will provide a jumping point for developers who are interested in moving to C#.
