Microsoft has announced the newest beta for the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (actually, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 tools for Office Second Edition). The name seems a bit wieldy, but you can simply call it V for short, although some may believe you to be referring to a veraciously violent event called V for Vendetta. If there are any vendettas here, they are for making it easy to develop for Office and to integrate Microsoft Office into your own applications.
This new beta allows you to tap into the 2007 Microsoft Office System to build applications. This beta, an add-in to Visual Studio 2005, allows you to take advantage of Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and InfoPath. This is an expansion from previous editions of VSTO that did not support the use of Visio and PowerPoint.
Do you want to download the new VSTO beta? You should be able to do so from:
You’ll need Visual Studio 2005 Professional or higher, or an existing copy of VSTO for this add-in to work for you.
