With Windows 8, Microsoft is beginning to think outside the box once again, and developers are embarking on a new frontier. With Windows 8 comes the Windows Runtime (WinRT), Metro Style apps and a whole new opportunity to create apps using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, along with more traditional languages such as C#, Visual Basic and .NET.


When many developers were concerned that C# and Visual Basic were going away, Microsoft came out with announcements about the new development paradigm for Windows 8 Metro apps. They were very excited to embrace the new web standards–HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript–but they weren’t going to leave C# and Visual Basic developers behind…they have a place in Windows 8 development as well.
