This week Microsoft announced the release of the Windows Azure Toolkit (WAT) for Android, which includes native libraries for storage and authentication functionality, a sample Android-Azure application and unit tests. Updated toolkits for Windows Phone and iOS platforms were also released along with the Android WAT.
The amazing growth of the mobile application market has provided ample opportunities for developers, however the costs and development time for creating apps for multiple platforms is daunting. This release adds Android to the list of platforms supported by WAT, which simplifies the process of creating apps, and makes it less costly for developers to create apps for each of the most popular mobile platforms.
