Windows Developers Start Receiving Microsoft’s New Kinect Gesture Sensor

In an effort to give developers the time they need to get their apps ready for release next year, Microsoft today started shipping out the new second generation Kinect gesture and voice recognition system to Windows developers who have paid the $399 (US) registration fee and completed the process to register for the Windows Version 2 Developer Preview Program. Part of the registration includes the actual kit which includes the pre-release Kinect for Windows version 2 sensor, access to the new version of Kinect for Windows SDK, in addition those developers will also receive the final version of the Kinect for Windows v2 sensor when they are released next summer. The new Kinect now has the ability to capture 2D video allowing the devise to place those objects filmed directly into 3D space within the app. Read the full details here.
